The house's mysterious Laboratory, and the employers of Generic Lab Assistant. GL Labs is presumably owned and funded by "Spooky". They are responsible for containing, classifying, and studying the house's various specimens to grow an army of ghosts. They also seem to have created the CAT-DOS as a means of recording their data.
The current state of GL Labs is unknown after the escape of Specimen 3, however since CAT-DOS updates itself somewhere between Room 100 -- where it first appears -- and Room 300, it is safe to assume the surviving lab members simply changed locations.
In the Endless Mode, a total of 8 notes can be found. The notes seem to be written by Spooky herself and they foreshadow her relationships with GL Labs and its workers. The third note describes an incident involving a GL Labs worker who questioned the design of the Jeff-inspired Specimen 1 design and then got stabbed by Spooky. In the fifth note GL Labs workers are referred as GL Lab slaves and were tasked with spamming invitations to the mansion as frequently as possible. In the seventh note a GL Labs worker informs Spooky about issues the name of their house might bring and is sent to investigate the case further. According to the eighth note, the worker said that with enough funds the issue could be avoided, but Spooky decided to keep the money toward dried noodle sustenance and scary things.
It is unknown whether the events from the notes took place before or after the escape of Specimen 3 and it is possible they are not related to the story of the core game at all.

- There are also a number of parallels with Aperture Science from the Portal series.
- If Spooky is a hologram, as is hinted at in the game's trailer, it could mean that "Spook", the apparent boss of GL Labs, is somewhere in the building, watching the player's every move and pulling all the strings.
